    Site overhaul

Been here for a better part of a decade. I've seen alot of guys and gals come and go. I don't have a set of directions this page should go. But I would like to open up some dialog to get more involvement and contribution.

Some ideas I want to bounce around are to add new admins.

JBG has been doing an awesome job since I joined ten years ago. But it would be beneficial to have additional mods to take the workload off of him. Adding new blood will add new ideas to maintain and increase participation.

Mod selection should be based on two criterias. Contribution (measured in Erep points) followed by tenure. Take the top 3% of contributers and make them mods. .

We have certain threads going that should be stickies. Then other threads and folders with minimum traffic that should be scrapped.

These are just some ideas. Would love to hear from the rest of you guys.

You may now find that RR has more sympathetic ears to making changes...if you have ideas, post them here and let's see what happens.

Ok..heres my 2 cents worth..I have no idea how sites/pages are made...but...is the anyway that picture posts can be set up so that you can just click on the current picture in order to get to the next, and so on? Right now we have to exit the picture & then click on the next.

^^^ I know of no such baked-in functionality in our version of the VBulletin template.

The idea of adding zip files to threads was presented (and killed) here once before. I like the idea because one can download an entire set (sometimes a very large set) without going through the tediousness of downloading every picture and video individually.

I also think the photobucket sections should be combined - no more hunting for a picture set in one section and the videos in another. It could be put in under a new group with a new section for all the Reddit gone wild posts. Though that will leave the current content being posted in the found section in question since the GW posts cover most of it these days.

The familiarity I have with zip files is that they often are stored on external servers and require additional third party software to open. They are two additional steps that are not only unnessary, but also go against basic principles of the framework of EF. All content has to be uploaded and downloaded from here.

Half the fun of our community is the browsing aspect. It's like reading a endless magazine and being able to download what you like and skip over what you don't... Thus saving us excessive bandwidth and server slowdowns.. The thing that people need to understand is that the overwhelming majority of our community is free to all registered members. If everyone had the ability to grab a few terabytes here and there at the same time, we would not be able to afford to keep the lights on.

As for the Photobucket idea, it is it's own two folder section that is updated by less than half a dozen hardcore dedicated members. Merging all the threads will create a chaos filled with duplicate posts and members not being able to find Photobucket files based on username.

I appreciate your ideas and see where you are coming from. But unfortunately, any future changes can not affect the framework of our community. We are open to new ideas including threads and topics.
